Messenger Bag

I made this little messenger bag because my philosophy is "never go anywhere without a book." I'm pretty proud of it because I can't really sew. I took some computer paper and scotch tape and made a paper mock up the size I wanted. Then I measured the model and winged it. I lined it to make it strong enough to tote a hardback. Most of the credit goes to Anna Maria Horner for her beautiful fabric. I embellished one flower with embroidery which you can see in the next photo.

I tried a photo-op with Lucky, but there is always a critic in the bunch. He just wanted that bag outta there.

Now these next two photos I decided not to use, but I like them, so here they are anyway. A big thank you to my friend Janet, and Lucky, at Summerwinds Stable!

Now THAT is AWESOME. Can you hear how hard I am hitting these keys? I don't know what I loved more: the bag, the embroidery, or the photos! EVERYTHING was just right.

Back again, I just can't get enough. Did you send it to Anna Maria? She would love to see this. You did a great job with her fabrics. Is the inside lining like the strap color, or is it the light blue I see peeking out from under the strap? I am glad I was able to click on each photo and make it larger. I love to read too, so having a bag that can fit a book, my journal, and my " purse stuff" is like having my cake and eating it too.

Thank you for your lovely comments! Your enthusiasm is getting me fired up! I didn't think of sending it to Anna Maria; but your comment reminds me that she has a place for that I think.

The lining is a light teal color (like the inside of the strap) that matches the AMH fabrics.

Again thank-you, your kindness makes my day! Okay evening!

I am an avid follower of Carolina's blog (she was my home room teacher in high school) so upon her suggestion I checked out your page and the bag! I LOVE IT!!! Some of her simple projects like the journals and things have inspired me to try it myself. Not always the greatest results, but I smile cause I took on the challenge. If anyone can challenge someone to try something out of their comfort zone it is Carolina!! Good luck on the dress as well!
