Weeell, I've said my piece about this one. I guess it is wafting around somewhere in cyberspace. Don't know if it will ever come back, but here is my tiny painting again.
Yes, now I can see the post - both of them. Scared me for a bit. Glad to see Google figured out their Blogger issues so quickly. I think the background saran wrap treatment was very successful on the third rose from the top (the lighter one). I think you should keep it in your bag of tricks. Your stem is also very successful. As far as a critique goes- when I squint and assess the values, the dark blue petals compete with each other. I am having difficulty seeing which colors make the shapes come forward, and which ones recede. If I had some knowledge, even a thimbleful of watercolor or painting knowledge, perhaps I could see the fix. The whole value thing, critical as it is, is mass confusion to me when I am painting. Perhaps there needs to be shadow, or better said: light direction. - kind of like you did on your tomatoes. Keep going Alicia - we are EXACTLY where we need to be ... figuring it all out.
